Feeder Pig Reservations
Spring/summer 2019

We have a limited number of purebred Berkshire feeder pigs each spring that we sell beginning at 8 weeks old. There are no minimums of how many you can buy. We do require a non-refundable $50 per pig deposit in order to reserve your pig(s). This $50 will go against the total purchase price. We accept this through PayPal (no account required) and the deposit can be made at the bottom of this page. The remainder of the purchase price is due in CASH when you get your pig(s). Although we do sometimes combine enough people from one area to justify meeting, go ahead and plan to pick up your pig in Clarinda, Iowa. Get your reservation in to be sure we have one for you!

If you prefer, we also sell pastured Berkshire pork for those who cannot/do not wish to raise a feeder for themselves. Please visit our Mill Creek Family Farms Premium Natural Meats page for more information on purchasing our pastured Berkshire pork or our premium Angus/Hereford grassfed beef.

Feeder pigs are priced as follows:

  1. Gilts (females) $125 for feeder grade, and $140 for those that we deem to meet the criteria of saving for breeding. A non-refundable $50 per pig is required as a deposit to reserve your pig, and the remainder is due in CASH when your pig goes with you.

  2. Boars (intact males) $110 for feeder grade, and $140 for those that we deem to meet the criteria of saving for breeding. If you are interested in a boar, contact us right away! We castrate all males that aren't reserved as boars at the 4 week mark. A non-refundable $50 per pig is required as a deposit to reserve your pig, and the remainder is due in CASH when your pig goes with you.

  3. Barrows (castrated males) $125. We do recommend castration if you plan on raising your boy to eat. Leaving a male uncut can produce a "gamey" flavor in the pork. A non-refundable $50 per pig is required as a deposit to reserve your pig, and the remainder is due in CASH when your pig goes with you.

  4. We can ring any pig for an additional $5. We recommend this if they will be on pasture that you do not want torn up as they WILL root. If you are planning on them running in trees or creek areas, ringing is not necessary, but totally a matter of preference. Ringing will not inhibit grazing or above ground foraging, but will inhibit foraging under the ground.
